What class do you compete in, and why?

Im competing in XA this year because we have the ability to really build this car into what we want. But we have a long way to go because we are still in a developmental phase. The possibilities are endless, and compared to driving the FRS, driving this is more of an adrenaline rush. XA looks like it’s going to be competitive this year.

What got you into motorsports? Any experience before autocross?

My boyfriend, Darian Taggart, got me into autox. I had no idea what it was until I met him.

Tell us about your car.

The car came first; I’ve owned it for about 6 years now. It started out as a show car, but after blowing it up and selling the FRS, we decided to replace the engine and use it for autox. Darian has done ALL of the setup work on it for us. Favorite mod is yet to come! Big wheels, aero, and supercharger.

Best moment on track?

I’m not sure if I’ve ever had a biggest “lightbulb moment”, but my biggest accomplishment has been winning STXL at nationals last year. I went into nats with zero expectations; my goal was to not cone away every single run like the year before. I didn’t want to know my times or what place I was in until the end of day 2. I had no idea that I had won until people had come up to me and told me. I just wanted to go out there and drive and have fun.

Why Philly SCCA?

Philly is close to us, the people are great. Matt Meyer and Chris Wanner are awesome. A huge shout out to Darian Taggart for everything he has done to help me; if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this. You’ve pushed me to do better each event and drive my best. Amy Houseal- you’ve been such an inspiration and so supportive (even though we were competing against each other last year), and you’ve become one of my best friends.

Advice for newcomers?

Best advice to give someone new: be fluid. Be accepting of constructive criticism and feedback. Best advice to new women in this sport: don’t be intimidated; be the bad ass bitch that you are!
