2008 Philly Region Holbert Event Information! (Pre-Reg OPEN)

Postby wrx wagone » Sun Jul 20, 2008 11:10 pm

Philly Region Solo Competitors,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the details of this year's Al Holbert Memorial Charity Event. Many of us in our organization have worked to make this event into something particularly special this year. Please read through the event overview below for a brief description of the event and then read the attached supplemental rules for additional information. I'm sure once you have taken a moment to read through our event plans you will be as excited about this event as I am.

Event Overview:
- The 2008 Holbert will be held at Warminster Community Park on August 9-10th.
- The event will be held under 2008 SCCA Solo Rules, Philly Region Solo Supplemental Rules, and the attached 2008 Holbert Supplemental Rules.
- Event results will be based on the combined times from both Saturday and Sunday.
- Class & PAX points will be awarded as double a standard Philly Region event.
- Registration will be on-line registration only with a cap of 225, with NO Non-Comp runs.
- Competitors, family, and friends are welcome to join us for dinner at the event site Saturday evening.
- Lunch will be served on Sunday.

The Philly Region is very pleased to offer dinner at this event on Saturday evening. We hope that everyone who attends will enjoy spending the weekend with us and your fellow competitors, as we look forward to spending it with all of you. :)

Please review the attached Supplemental Rules, and feel free to contact me, either through PM on this forum or through my contact information on our webpage, with any questions or comments you may have.

We will have registration open very shortly and I will post a link to that in this post.

Pre-Reg is open!

Please sign up online for our event online at MotorSportsReg.com. You can also purchase extra Dinner and/or Lunch tickets for family members and friends.

Note: For competitors that intend to compete only one of the two days of this event, we have updated the scoring note to reflect how our timing software will handle this situation. Please read this section and contact us with any questions.

Anybody know if my car will pass sound? Seems to be quieter than Steve's FMod.

How do I find out?

Did you run the Divisional last year? We did sound for every heat and no one failed. Only a few warnings even given (93 db warning, 96 fail).

Easiest way to test is to buy or borrow a Radio Shack sound meter and set to "A" weighting and "Slow" response. Range should be set to 90 on the dial for the analog meter. Place the sound meter approx 50 feet behind your car. Now have someone go full throttle and you can read the meter to see where your car is. Best results would be in an open parking lot with no buildings to reflect sound off of.

Sound meter at the event is 50 feet off of the course and perpendicular to line of travel, not pointed at your tailpipe. So for testing purposes you'll want to try both to see where you are.

Trying to determine whether or not your car passes or fails without performing this test is folly. Jerry's Elise and the Jan's SM Evo from NYC were the loudest cars at Divisionals. A Toyota engine the loudest? Crazy.

Motorsports Reg says that registration is "suspended." Did the event fill up already?

No, I'm not sure why that is. We will have it fixed shortly.

I know that passengers must fill out weekend memberships to be able to ride along. Will we be able to fill out this paperwork on Sunday? The supps imply that there won't be a registration table on Sunday.

Dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday was a great idea.

Thanks,

Scott

Anything for Registration or Tech will be open by appointment. Send me a message if you need to sign someone up for a weekend membership on Sunday.

Sometimes they "use" the same course, just run it backwards (ie, the finish becomes the new starting line, and the starting line becomes the new finish for day #2). Changes the course entirely. But, who knows

They were running sound checks every heat at Finger Lakes. Did you ever check to see what it was?

It would be nice to have more than one person to run against in SS.

I was at 91db with one reading at 92db using my own meter when Angie ran the car. I was behind the car at the start line.

5 days and only 50 people registered. Maybe we can get 3 extra runs each day.

Don't worry Lou, I have friends coming up to CT today and I plan on convincing them to run. At this point I might be only able to run Sunday as I will be driving back from CT on Saturday, but if all goes well you might get an additional 5 or 6 people for the weekend. I guess worse case scenario both twins make it back out. Be afraid, very afraid of the angry focus lol. Hopefully I will have time to at least stop by and maybe offer help in the worker position.

As a reminder, there are only a few days left for registration and this event is a PRE-REG ONLY event.

For those waiting for the weather forecast for next weekend, I can already tell you it's going to be perfect. :)

I'm in for Saturday only. I hope I have a car to drive, my 2 is still in the shop. The Lotus on rocks and a stock setup sounds like understeer city.

Dave,

When I tried to register, it wouldn't let me choose #110. The only number in the drop down list is 57, but it says that number is reserved. Can I get #110 SS?
