Tri-Region 40th Anniversary Pocono Sports Car Grand Prix A Spectator Event
On Saturday and Sunday, August 14 & 15, 2010, Pocono Raceway will be alive with race cars, pit crews, flaggers and fun as the Tri-Region Race Group (Sports Car Club of America) celebrates its 40th Anniversary of racing at Pocono Raceway
The National races will bring out the best of the Northeast drivers who will be racing for national points and a place in the year-end SCCA National Championship Runoffs held at Road America (Elkhart Lake, WI) in late September. Qualifying will begin at 8:00 on Saturday, and races will start at 8:15 on Sunday.
On Saturday, in addition to the qualifying for the National drivers, there will be qualifying and a 40 minute race for historic sports cars. On Sunday, a special “Miatas & Friends” qualifying session and race will involve drivers in cars which are similar to cars driven on the streets.
Spectators are invited to view from the Grandstands or Infield. They can visit the Paddock, talk to the drivers, and get a close look at the drivers and teams as they prepare their race cars in the garage area.
Come for the clash of the Corvettes. Check out the Formula (Indy type) cars. Watch as Mustangs, Porsches and Miatas challenge the road course, banking and chicane.
A portion of each ticket sold will be contributed to Lap to Conquer MS, a charity founded in 1989 by two members of Tri-Region to increase Multiple Sclerosis awareness through motor sports, while raising funds for the National MS Society.
